Momence vs Mindbody: Pricing, Fees and What Studio Owners Report

Short answer: the clearest difference between Momence and Mindbody right now is how much each tells you before you talk to sales. Mindbody publishes a US entry price (from $79 USD/month per location), full Australian plan prices (A$89–A$369 per location per month), Canadian card rates, and a 20% (capped at $30) fee on new clients' first purchases through its app. Momence publishes no prices at all. Its pricing page says "Let's talk pricing" and offers a custom quote. Both handle class booking, memberships and payments. To compare them fairly, get both quotes in writing and add up subscription, card processing and marketplace fees. Then check contract and renewal terms, and test reformer-level capacity and waitlists in a demo.

Disclosure. This site is run by Johnny Ni, who also runs a Pilates reformer business (hesurepilates.com). Momence runs a partner program, and we may earn a referral fee if your studio signs up through our Momence links. Mindbody doesn't pay us. That's a reason to be skeptical of us, so every figure below links to its source, and we report complaints about both.

Pricing: what each company actually publishes

Momence: quote only (since autumn 2026)

Momence's pricing page now says: "Every business is different. Tell us about yours, and we'll walk you through Momence's capabilities and put together pricing that fits" (Momence pricing, checked November 2, 2026). There are no plan prices, processing rates or platform fees on the page.

What we can say from Momence's own help center:

Historical note (not current pricing). An archived copy of Momence's pricing page from September 3, 2026 showed three tiers. Basic was free, with a 5% platform fee plus a 4% fee charged to the client. Pro was $60/month with a 2.5% platform fee. Custom was $199/month with no platform fee. US card rates were listed at 3.9% + $0.30 online and 3.7% + $0.05 in person (Wayback Machine snapshot). Momence no longer shows these figures, so don't budget from them. Ask whether any platform fee applies to your quote.

Mindbody: entry price published, the rest by quote

Card processing and other fees

Mindbody Payments, Canada (support article):

Mindbody, US and Australia: rates are not published. The support article asks US and AU studios to email Mindbody Payments. Mindbody's pricing FAQ says fees are a rate plus a fixed fee of $0.10–$0.30 per transaction in North America and Asia, and that autopays count as card-not-present (pricing).

The Mindbody app fee, worked through. The fee is 20% of a new client's first purchase, capped at $30 (or 30 in local currency) (pricing). So a new client whose first purchase is a $100 class pack costs you $20, and a $200 first purchase hits the $30 cap. Mindbody says listing on the app is free, and no fee applies when an existing client books through the app, when a client came through a tracked referral link, or when the client says your business is how they found you. Every booking after the first is commission-free.

Momence: current rates are not published. Ask for card-not-present, card-present and direct-debit rates, plus any platform fee, as a written line item.

Contracts, renewals and switching

Neither company publishes a contract length on its pricing page. Mindbody's pricing page says terms depend "on the specific plan and billing terms you signed up for", and cancellation "may require advance notice based on your agreement" (Mindbody pricing). Momence publishes nothing on contract length or notice.

Owners describe what that can mean in practice:

Ask both vendors, in writing: the term length, whether the plan auto-renews, the notice period, the price-increase policy, what a data export costs, and whether your members' card details can be migrated if you leave.

What studio owners report about each

These are individual comments collected from public reviews and forums on November 1, 2026. They're anecdotes, not a representative survey. We picked the ones most relevant to Pilates studios, and we include both platforms.

Which one should you shortlist?

We don't declare a winner, because the deciding numbers (Momence's price and Mindbody's US card rate) aren't public. A practical way to decide:

FAQ

Is Momence cheaper than Mindbody?

We can't say, because Momence doesn't publish prices. Its pricing page says "Let's talk pricing". Mindbody's US entry plan starts at $79 USD per month per location. The only fair comparison is two written quotes that include card processing, platform fees and Mindbody's 20% (capped at $30) first-purchase app fee.

How much does Momence cost per month?

Momence doesn't publish a monthly price as of November 2, 2026; you get a custom quote. An archived September 2026 version of its pricing page showed Basic (free), Pro ($60) and Custom ($199) tiers, but those are no longer shown and shouldn't be treated as current.

What does Mindbody charge for clients who book through the Mindbody app?

Mindbody charges 20%, capped at $30 (or 30 in local currency), on the first purchase of a client who is new to your business and found you through the Mindbody app. Bookings after the first are commission-free. Mindbody says there is no fee when an existing client books through the app, came through a tracked referral link, or identifies your business as how they found you.

What are Mindbody's card processing fees in Canada?

Mindbody Payments lists 2.89% + C$0.25 for online (card-not-present) payments, 2.39% + C$0.10 in person, C$0.15 for Interac, and 1% + C$0.40 for pre-authorized debits. US and Australian rates are not published.

Can I switch from Mindbody to Momence?

Yes, switching is possible, but check two costs first. Mindbody says data transfer "fees may apply". Your Mindbody agreement may also require advance notice or run to the end of a term. Ask Momence how it imports clients, memberships and stored cards, and get the timeline in writing.
